Currently we are looking for a Senior Cloud/DevOps Engineer for our Basel office to make our team even stronger.
As a Senior Cloud/DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture, design and implementation of AWS-based application platforms and tooling, to support the implementation of our client company’s cloud first strategy. The Cloud Team is responsible for Cloud evangelism, project outreach, project AWS consulting/architecture/design, and AWS-based platforms for use by application teams – engineers, informaticians, and biomedical scientists. As the Cloud Team is growing out of the existing mature DevOps practice, to-date the main driver of AWS adoption, the position is also responsible for providing Basel-based DevOps services, involving DevOps consulting and automation implementation to support these same users.
Provide consulting services to application teams looking to build AWS-based scientific applications, providing design and implementation support as needed;
Design, build, and support advanced Development Operations tooling used to build, deploy, test, and manage scientific applications supporting drug discovery research;
Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with stakeholders in scientific, development and operations communities;
Provide on-site operational user support for AWS and DevOps platforms and tools.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience;
At least 3 years deep AWS architecture and development experience with a variety (in breadth and depth) of applications use-cases;
AWS certifications are not required, but strong candidates will ideally have AWS Certified Developer Professional and AWS Certified Architect Professional certifications;
At least 5 years in-depth programming experience in Ruby (preferred), Python or Java with software design skills, as well as with current best practices and methodologies (e.g. Agile);
At least 5 years (can be concurrent) of work experience in service functions or providing user support;
Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration, with at least some familiarity/experience with automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, SaltStack, etc;
Familiarity and some experience with Continuous Integration and/or configuration management processes and tools (git, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Artifactory, etc.);
Demonstrated knowledge of software development and IT operations best practices;
Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills;
Proven strong user focus and excellent communication skills with a successful track record of collaborating in cross-functional teams;
Demonstrated capability to efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously while appropriately reacting to changing priorities;
Fluent English (spoken and written).
