Currently we are looking for a DevOps Engineer (Database) for our Krakow office to make the team even stronger.
As a Software Infrastructure Engineer you will be a key member of the VBO Platform Team and will focus on bringing media products vision to life. You will be responsible for storage systems setup, maintenance, reliability engineering and monitoring. We are looking for comprehensive experience in building and production support of various high availability & distributed database systems.
We are working on the server-side components for different media & entertainment products like Horizon Go, Horizon set-top box as well as new EOS set-top box. Range of potential involvements differs from real-time communication to big data processing and analysis. We value professional growth and development, proactivity and critical mind-set.
Design, setup & configurate the core infrastructure that runs our online business;
Monitor and maintain the health of infrastructure;
Plan database upgrades by maintaining, evaluating, and improving a transaction processing model;
Assess database performance by developing a protocol for measurement of results and identification of problem areas;
Support database performance by monitoring database performance; evaluating and resolving processing and programming problems; designing database management tools; answering user questions;
Secure database by preparing access and control policies and procedures, implementing disaster recovery procedures;
Develop deep knowledge of our complex production applications and their upstream & downstream dependencies;
Improve the reliability and scalability of the whole system;
Work closely with the development teams;
Explore new latest relevant technology, techniques, frameworks, tools, methodologies and processes;
Take responsibility & feel accountable for own and team actions;
Be a strong team player;
Be confident and a credible influencer, able to command respect;
Be self-disciplined and enforces discipline within his/her teams in terms of processes and work ethics;

University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Computer Science, Science, Mathematics or equivalent or be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge;
At least fluent spoken and written English – ideally other European languages;
Extensive experience working with Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu or similar);
Practical experience in RDBMS systems, especially PostgreSQL;
Experience in clustering solutions like Pgpool, PGCluster;
Experience in managing and configuration Elasticsearch clusters;
Background in disaster recovery mechanisms design and analysis;
Proven experience in configuration management tools, i.e., Ansible, Puppet, etc;
Knowledge of NoSQL solutions such as Cassandra, Riak and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus;
Production experience and understanding of cluster management systems like Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, Mesos;
Effective communication skills, ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment within sometimes tight deadlines is a big plus;
