Currently we are looking for a Director of User Experience for our Los Angeles, CA office to make the team even stronger.
Our ideal candidate is expected to be a client-facing, broadly-flexible Experience Design Consultant, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting and pitching all manner of UX work – from user research to interaction design, information architecture and usability testing. He/she will often act as UX discipline “lead” on multiple projects, overseeing one or more other UX Designers. The Director of User Experience will be responsible for developing project approaches and estimates, as well as presenting the team’s work. He/she is expected to have deep expertise in four core UX areas: User and Business Research, Interaction Design, Information Architecture, and Usability Testing. At times may be called on to serve as a Business Analyst on projects, documenting requirements.
Serve as a UX Leader for new-business activities, presentations and estimates;
Lead a UX team in the creation site maps, flows, navigation strategies and wireframe prototypes and annotations;
Lead UX aspects of responsive-design projects;
Lead user research and usability testing activities;
Lead the data analysis and development of mental models and customer-journey maps;
Present research findings and recommendations to internal and external teams;
Collaborate with content strategy leads on hierarchy and taxonomy;
Collaborate with creative leads on process, interaction design and flows;
Present design work to internal team as well as clients;
Organize and delegate work to other UX designers as needed/appropriate;
Mentor subordinate-level UX designers.
7+ years of experience with UX software including Visio, OmniGraffle, Axure, InDesign or other;
Strong ability to lead user research and testing activities and deliverables;
Excellent ability to explain complex design decisions to experts and laypeople;
Strong understanding of interaction design, service design, and usability best practices;
Strong understanding of responsive design;
Strong ability to lead UX activities within both Agile and Waterfall environments;
Ability to accurately estimate and delegate work so that it is delivered on time and on budget;
Strong understanding of relevant technologies for desktop and mobile;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Excellent presentation skills;
Ability to lead cross-functional teams;
High-level knowledge of visual design and front-end development.
